Key2Access is a tool that was co-designed with our users to help you interact with the world around you. With Key2Access you will be able to request pedestrian crossing at intersections, open doors from a distance and get more information on your surroundings, inside and outside.
The Application tutorial will start now.
The Key2Access capabilities are available only at active Key2Access locations. The app will prompt you to let you know when you come into contact one of these locations and will give you a specific message detailing what is around you. However, in order to receive these prompts, you must enable location services with the app.
If you would like to get more information about the point of interest, press on the more info button on the screen or alternatively press the physical “down” volume button. If you press the “up” volume button, your phone will act as a pointer which will allow you to discover what is around you by rotating your phone on a horizontal plane.
Intersections and automatic doors equipped with Key2Access technology act as interactive points of interests. In this types of location, you will be able to open a door or to request pedestrian crossing from a button that appears on the app. You will be prompted as you approach one of these points and the app will specify what type of location you are now connected to.
If the location is an intersection, a push button will appear on the bottom half of the screen. To request pedestrian crossing, simply point and press and release the button on your screen in the direction you would like to cross. The phone should vibrate to indicate that pedestrian call been made and you are aligned within the crosswalk. Vibration indicates that you are pointing in the direction of the crosswalk. If the phone does not vibrate, scan very slowly to the left and right until the phone vibrates. Repeat the process if necessary. When it is your turn to cross, depending on the city regulation, an audible signal may be emitted from the traffic infrastructure. Please exert the same level of caution while crossing the street as you would without use of the application and always use audible signals as support to any orientation and mobility training.
If you are approaching a Key2Access retrofitted door, a similar button will appear. You can point and press the button on your screen in the direction of the door you would like to open.
At all times, there is a static button in the utmost top left corner of your screen that brings up a compass. This compass will tell you the cardinal direction your phone is pointing. You will need to periodically calibrate the compass on the phone. Simply press on this compass button and rotate the phone slowly in all the directions, this will automatically calibrate the phone compass.
There are also 2 static buttons in the utmost top right corner of your screen. From left to right, the first is the “help” button where you can find these instructions again. The second is the “settings” button where you can change any profile setting.
At any time, if you want to go back or get out of a page you have clicked, simply shake your phone and the app will return to “neutral” mode, ready to receive new prompts
Finally, Key2Access requires that your Bluetooth and location services be enabled and that your compass be activated and calibrated in your phone settings.
